March 2011 - Adam Ford

Meet one of our CrossFitters, Adam Ford!!

Comments from CFV:

Adam has been with us since week 1 of opening the overhead door in our first location.  His athleticism and determination comes out full speed when the watch starts.  He has not only gotten faster, stronger and overall better, he has also learned alot about himself.  Through his journey of overall fitness and health here at CFV, he has realized there is still alot of potential left in him to grow as a CrossFiter.  He continues to be a great example to other athletes by working on those weaknesses either before or after WODs and continues to look for guidance and answers to help do so.  We are looking forward to seeing that same potential to grow and see him find new goals to reach and new heights to climb.  Outstanding work Adam, we are blessed to have you at CFV.

How long have you been CrossFiting?

I have been crossfitting about 8 months now.

What goals have you achieved?

One of my goals was to be able to use the 24″ box for most of the workouts and I have accomplished that. I have also improved my form on all of the major lifts.

What are your future goals?

To be able to do double unders and improve my shoulder flexibility so I can properly do an OHS.

What are you most proud of as a CFV Athlete?

Showing up each day and making it through the workouts.  Also being able to say that I am a crossfitter and be a part of CFV.

What is your favorite thing about Cross Fit Victorious?

The people of course!!!  …..and also the severe pain that is inflicted on me everyday by Jose and his WOD’s.

What other fitness related activities do you participate in outside of CF?

I have run in some 5K charity races around town and CF definitely makes running a lot easier.   I also take my dog out for walks/runs if you want to call that a fitness related activity.  I look forward to the upcoming Hogs Hunt trail run and the Boon Dock Battle race.

Least favorite Bench Mark “Girl WOD or Movement? Why?

Nancy since I still have a hard time fully opening my shoulders and locking the bar out overhead on the overhead squats. I am continually working on stretching out my shoulders so I can achieve a “full open shoulder” as Jose would say and lock out overhead.

Favorite bench mark “girl” WOD or movement? Why?

Cindy is my favorite bench mark WOD since I am strong at pullups and pushups.

Any other comments:

When I first started CFV, there were days when it was just Jose and I working out together.  Thank God, since I needed the instruction to get from being the train wreck I was when I started to a little less of a train wreck now.  I am glad that we have had so many great people join CFV over the last 8 months.  I look forward to seeing everyone I workout with each day so we can all go through the pain together  Jose, Kelly and John have done a great job coaching and I look forward learning more from them in the future.  I am glad to be apart of this family and look forward to getting stronger with everyone in the future.
