Norma DeLaTorre on “WOD Love”

“I am actually putting up a picture of my son Michael in front of the Los Angeles Coliseum. CrossFit has not only changed my life but it has changed our family’s life. As a single mother, I was having a hard time connecting with my son as he became a teenager and became more distant which I know is normal for a boy his age (just turned 16 yesterday). In Feb of this year I told him that I had heard about CrossFit and I was going to give it a try and maybe he would like to do it with me. He didn’t seem that excited and I think he even doubted my commitment to it since in comparison to him I am not very athletic. I went to the class once and I knew Michael would love it. Well I was right, on Michael’s first day our trainer Jose Antonio Espinoza called him a natural and he hooked. My son and I connected right away on CrossFit and when my 11 year old daughter heard us constantly talking about our box CrossFit Victorious and WOD’s she decided to join in and started coming with us. Since then it has become a family affair and it is something we all look forward to.

I can’t even express how happy it makes me to hear my son and daughter cheer me on when I am WOD’ing yelling out “you can do it mom” or how proud I feel seeing my son in all his glory push himself to compete at the same level as some of the top athletes at our box or seeing my daughter’s determination to finish even though she is exhausted. I have to say that finding my boxCrossFit Victorious has become a blessing to our family. Our trainers and the people we work out with have truly become our second family.”
