This weekend, CFV athletes once again gathered to take on the Murph Challenge, a Memorial Day tradition honoring LT. Michael P. Murphy. Read more about the Murph Challenge on the official site. The Rx level of this workout consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run, with a 20-lb weighted vest.
More than 30 CFV athletes registered (donating to the Murph Foundation scholarship fund), and each individual met the challenge at the level that fit their abilities. Some family members joined in to cheer on and, in some cases, run alongside their loved ones. A few of our athletes did the Murph on their own because they couldn’t be at this event.
In honor of Lt. Michael Murphy, today we challenged ourselves to complete the Murph Challenge. I completed the full with a time of 63:01, not within the 60 min time cap, but I did it. I’m grateful to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice! I do this in honor of you!! — Pam
My first Murph is done in 48:53! Thanks to a little “encouragement” from these girls I did the full Murph. I wouldn’t be where I am without their constant support, push, and laughs! Love my CFV family! — Jordan
I just want to say how proud I am of each and every one of you and THANK YOU! I came in today hoping to do 3/4. I wasn’t even half way thru when I hit that wall and was doubting being able to meet my goal. After seeing ALL OF YOU push thru your barriers, you gave me the confidence and encouragement to keep going. THANK YOU!!! I am so grateful to be a part of this awesome community with you. — Jennifer
I met my goal and time was 50:42. My goal next year I will run the full 2 miles! Good job to all my CF athletes!! … This guy right here is my support system! He supports me in everything I do including trying to save every stray dog I see!! He came to count and cheer me on yesterday at the Murph Challenge and at the last leg of my run I was struggling so he ran out to me and motivated me to keep going. I love this guy! — Vanessa
In Honor of Lt. Michael Murphy we did the Memorial Day Murph Challenge. Steve and I did the Half Murph ( 1/2 mile run, 50 pull-ups, 100 push ups and 150 squats and then another 1/2 mile run). Hey guys I just want to say how proud I am of the CFV athletes who finished their Murph workouts today. Although this workout was mentally challenging I was so impressed by the athlete performance during the workout. It may have not felt great and made you feel like you were struggling but I saw hard work and out of the training we have been doing; today I got to see all the hard work pay off! I’m so proud of our athletes! Great job everybody. — Gabbi
