I was thinking about a lot of stuff the other day and I know this email might sound cheesy but I honestly mean every word.

I would just like to thank you (trainers and athletes) for just being you. I am grateful to have such awesome people and CrossFit in my life. Aside from, me slowly but surely breaking my bad eating habits, CrossFit has been very good to me (when I go and I’m not sickly). I do notice my clothes fitting differently and I notice that I do a lot of everyday stuff differently.

For example, I went to Petco the other day and I get the huge bag of dog food for my dogs and believe it or not I used to struggle just a little picking it up and getting it into the basket and being winded from that. I don’t know if it’s because you instilling proper form for the movements that we do for our WODs or what but I noticed I picked it up differently (squatting) and pushed off with my heals (like we’re supposed to) and chunked it in the basket with no problem. I kind of giggled and smiled because I knew it was because of CrossFit and how we learn all of the movements in our skills and drills.

But that’s not all...

I notice I’m starting to feel better about myself… I’m happier… I look forward to going to workout (even though I know Some of the WOD’s kill me). I WANT to put more weight on that dead lift, I WANT to go to that next band for kipping pull-ups. I’ve never WANTED to do anything when it came to working out and to do it with such great people that want to see me better myself just makes it that much better.

So I just thought I’d say thank you and thank you for opening up “the box” CrossFit Victorious so close to home and having awesome trainers and athletes that push you until you can’t anymore.”

So when Jose asked me to do a testimony of what Crossfit has done for me in my short time I was so excited because it really has changed my outlook on everything and truly been the best preparation for my new journey.

On Monday I ship out to basic training at ft Jackson south Carolina to begin my new military life with the Army. When I made this decision back in August, I realized that my current fitness program would not be enough preparation for Basic Training, so the search began! The training I received at Crossfit Victorious was more than I expected to get and brought me to a place physically I thought I’d never be. My biggest issues were running and lifting; Jose was so great at being detailed on every weighted position to ensure that my form was correct to not only prevent injury but to get the most out of my workout. Never in my life have I picked up weights so this was a huge challenge that was overcome by good teachers and a little dedication!

One of my proudest improvements would be my running. I’ve never been much of a runner and this was a huge concern for me since I enlisted. I would run on my own to work on my timed 2- mile test for the Army and would end up frustrated either because of my slow time or because my knees were killing me. I knew John was a great runner so I brought my issue to the box and told both Jose and John my concerns. The next day John worked with me one on one about running form and Jose showed me how to correctly stretch my IT Band so I wouldn’t have knee issues. I went from running a mile in 12 ish minutes just a month prior to completing my last P.T. Test with a 2-mile run in 15:37. I was shocked when my recruiter yelled out my time and told me I’d made a 256 out of max 300 score on my fitness tests!

Thank you Crossfit Family for all you do, you guys know your stuff and really know how to mold people from an average Jo to an educated, well rounded, workout machine!!!
